Nintendo Direct 2023: New Games Announced for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo held its latest Nintendo Direct 2023 presentation on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. The 40-minute livestream focused on upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch, including new details on Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3 DLC, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Pikmin 4

Pikmin 4 is a real-time strategy game developed by Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo. It is the sequel to Pikmin 3, and is scheduled to be released in July 2023.

The game takes place on a new planet, and features a new cast of Pikmin. Players will need to use the Pikmin to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. The game also features a new co-op mode, which allows two players to work together to complete the game.

Splatoon 3 DLC

The first wave of DLC for Splatoon 3 will include three new stages, eight new weapons, and 40 new pieces of gear. The DLC will also add a new mode called “Salmon Run Next Wave,” which is a cooperative mode where players must work together to defeat waves of enemies.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an action-adventure game developed by Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo. It is the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and is scheduled to be released in November 2023.

The game takes place in a new kingdom, and features a new protagonist named Link. Players will explore the kingdom, solve puzzles, and battle enemies. The game also features a new grappling hook mechanic, which allows Link to reach new areas.

Other Announcements for Nintendo Direct 2023

  • Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope: This is a sequel to the 2017 game Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. It is a turn-based strategy game that combines the worlds of Mario and Rabbids. The game is scheduled to be released in October 2023.
  • Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes: This is a spin-off of the Fire Emblem series. It is a musou game that combines the gameplay of Fire Emblem with the action of Dynasty Warriors. The game is scheduled to be released in September 2023.
  • Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp: This is a remake of the first two Advance Wars games. It is a turn-based strategy game that features a grid-based battlefield. The game is scheduled to be released in August 2023.
  • Game Boy and Game Boy Advance: The Legend of Zelda Collection: This is a collection of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Zelda games. It includes The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, and Four Swords Adventures. The collection is scheduled to be released in December 2023.
